Question: What do I need to do before I can start driving?
Answer: - You must have a provisional license.
- You can apply for a provisional driving licence quickly and easily online or by completing the D1 application form available at most post offices.
- The minimum age which you can drive a car on the public roads is 17.
- If you are disabled and in receipt of mobility allowance, the minimum age is 16.
- It is also worthwhile having an eyesight check to check you meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving.
Question: How often should I take lessons?
Answer: How often you take your lessons is entirely up to you. It is recommended at least 1 session of 2 hours per week. The more lessons you take, the quicker you will learn and the more money you will save. A 1 hour lesson taken once a week would equate to taking between 9 months to 1 year to learn to drive!
Question: How many driving lessons should I have before taking my test?
Answer: The DVSA says that there is no minimum number of lessons you must have, or hours you should practise driving. It all depends on individuals. Approximately 45 hours of professional lessons combined with approximately 22 hours of private tuition can be with your friends or family but they must be over 21 years of age and have held a full uk driving licence for at least 3 years.
Question: I'm really nervous about learning to drive. How can you help me?
Answer: Just Right Driving School has a lot of experience dealing with nervous students as well as people who suffer with anxiety and other health issues like dyslexia and autism. This is completely normal. We do have instructors helping with nervous people and they are particularly patient and understanding. Our instructors will help to build your confidence to get you ready to your test standard.
Question: Do you offer evening and weekend lessons?
Answer: We work to suit your needs although these are the most popular times and tend to get booked up far in advance so book early to get the time you want.
Question: Can you pick me up from a pick up location and drop me off at a different location?
Answer: If enough notice is given our instructors are usually able to collect and drop you off at a different destination as long as it's in the same town.
Question: I have a foreign license. How can I find out if I can exchange it for a British one?
Answer: Driving licenses from many countries can be exchanged for British license. But the process is various depending on which country you are from. After Brexit there are a lot of changes. See the DVSA advice on what you should do.
